DeKalb to provide updates on sewer system clean up, cybersecurity

April 9, 2018

DeKalb CEO Mike Thurmond will update the public about the county's ongoing efforts to comply with a federal consent decree to clean up its water and sewer systems.

Thurmond’s update, the second of his tenure as CEO, will be provided at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners’ meeting at 9 a.m. He is expected to talk about progress made since he took office in January 2017, such as $30 million in maintenance and repairs, debris removal and revamping policies and procedures.

Also on Tuesday, a Board of Commissioners’ subcommittee will receive information about the county’s cybersecurity program.

The city of Atlanta was majorly affected by a recent "ransomware cyberattack" on its computer networks.
