DeKalb District Attorney Robert James plans to reimburse the county about $1,400 that he spent on meals and a parking ticket, Channel 2 Action News reported Thursday.
James exceeded his daily allowance for food 30 times since 2011, and he will repay the difference in each case, according to Channel 2. The charges were made on his government-issued purchasing card for meals while traveling or during business meetings.
The charges include $270 at Brennan’s Palace Cafe in New Orleans, $189 at P.F. Chang’s in Atlanta and $17 for a parking ticket in Decatur.
"After internally reviewing various records regarding P-card purchases and expenses, I have decided to personally repay each P-card charge that may have exceeded the allocated per diem or possibly used in a disputable manner," James said in a statement. "The District Attorney's Office now limits the use of P-cards to items directly related to the needs of the grand jury, criminal cases and office supplies."
