Two challengers are trying to unseat DeKalb County Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton, saying her integrity is in doubt, but she says her opponents are trying to smear her reputation.

Sutton, who was first elected in 2008, said she has been an effective representative by bringing more resources to her Stone Mountain-area district.

The challengers, Army veteran Steve Bradshaw and sales manager Lance Hammonds, point to a list of Sutton's alleged ethical violations and questionable expenses. They say Sutton has damaged DeKalb's reputation and fostered divisiveness.

The District 4 race will be settled in the May 24 Democratic primary election.
