The clerk’s office in the DeKalb County courthouse has become the first in Georgia to accept credit and debit card payments from walk-in customers, according to Superior Court Clerk Debra DeBerry.

Credit or debit cards displaying the Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express logo will be accepted for filing fees, recording fees, notary fees, land records and civil records.

Deberry said the clerk’s office will be able to provide better customer service by accepting credit cards because many citizens rarely carry cash.
