Changing DeKalb’s power structure no sure thing

Georgia lawmakers representing DeKalb say they're wary of rushing to change DeKalb County's CEO form of government.

The idea of removing the county's powerful chief executive and replacing him with a county manager has gained attention since a corruption investigation alleged a failure of leadership in DeKalb.

Interim DeKalb CEO Lee May and Gov. Nathan Deal both support the change.

But state legislators say they’re more likely to conduct a broad review of DeKalb’s government structure, a process that could take years.
