508-acre mix of retail, office, residences proposed near Chateau Elan

June 17, 2016

A Peachtree City firm says it plans to develop a mix of luxury residences, shops and office space around a man-made river near Braselton.

The development needs a rezoning from Hall County, and the timetable for the project is uncertain.

To call the project ambitious would be an understatement. In a press release, developer ARW Group LLC said the project would be comparable to San Antonio’s River Walk and Oklahoma City’s Bricktown development, two sizable mixed-use developments around major waterways.

In the press release, ARW principal Jorge Duran said his proposed Atlanta River Walk would be a “world-class mixed-use development.”

The company said it would sit on 508 acres north of I-85 on the Jackson/Hall County line, about a mile from Chateau Elan. The development would feature “man-made river-like water feature surrounded by international restaurants, shopping destinations, luxury residences, a hotel and class A office space.”

A conceptual plan for the project shows 242,500 square feet of retail, 424,400 square feet of offices, 600 multi-family units and 215 townhomes.

The project would include a 200-room hotel, a movie theater and a supermarket. It also would feature an outdoor amphitheater and conference center and would be surrounded by 30 acres of green space with art, walking trails and a multi-use path.
