Interstate 575 in Cherokee County experienced some unusual rush-hour traffic Tuesday evening when a small plane that had just taken off from the nearby Cherokee County airport landed safely on the interstate around 7 p.m. after losing power.
A student pilot and flight instructor were aboard and the instructor took over and guided the Beechcraft Sundowner onto the highway just north of Airport Road from 500 feet up, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tim Cavender said.
There was no plane/car collision and no injuries.
