A Gwinnett County magistrate ordered a teen to be held without bond Thursday on charges he had murdered his father.

Meanwhile Gwinnett police are still investigating why David Trent Walker, 19, might have stabbed his father to death Wednesday, said Cpl. Ed Ritter of Gwinnett police.

The magistrate set a preliminary hearing date of Nov. 14 for Walker to decide whether to send the case to Superior Court and set a bond.

He was arrested Wednesday afternoon shortly after officers found him standing over his injured father, 46-year-old David Walker, in the road outside their home in a neighborhood in unincorporated Hoschton, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1600 block of Country Wood Drive shortly before 2:30 p.m. Emergency personnel transported the wounded man by ambulance, but he died a short time later.

Smith earlier Wednesday said investigators had not yet determined a motive for the attack.

David Trent Walker was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center on one charge of murder.
