An Atlanta grandmother got herself arrested for battery Wednesday after police say she made her grandson’s fight her own.
Claudette Peters walked her grandson to his school bus stop and then boarded the bus to talk to the driver about a student who had fight with her grandson Tuesday, according to Atlanta police.
Once on board she spotted the other student, a 10-year-old fourth-grader. Instead of questioning him about the fight, she ran down the aisle and started walloping him, striking his face and neck a number of times before the bus driver could intervene, the report said.
Peters, wearing a white jogging suit, then left the bus and walked toward her home. The bus driver called 911 and police arrested her at her house on Fairburn Road, the report said.
The boy was treated for minor injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital and brought to school, the report said. Peters, 49, was booked into the Fulton County jail on battery charges and was granted a $5,000 signature bond Thursday morning, a jail spokeswoman said. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2.
