Two men convicted of killing a 19-year-old Milton man to get his gold chain were sentenced to life in prison, plus five years Monday. A third man accused in the murder was acquitted.

Michael Grant, of Roswell, was convicted Monday in the murder of Christopher Walker on March 23, 2013, Channel 2 Action News reported. Grant was then sentenced to life in prison, plus five years.

Richard Bernard Davidson, 22, was convicted earlier this month in Walker's death. Davidson was sentenced to life without parole, plus five years. Matthew Goins, of Alpharetta, was acquitted Monday.

Walker was shot in the driveway of his family’s home after returning from Taco Bell, according to investigators. Prosecutors argued that Walker was shot because the suspects wanted the gold chain around his neck.

The victim's mother, Mary Jo Walker, was on the phone when her son was gunned down outside. From her front stoop, she could see his body on the ground, she previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“His eyes were open, but I could see that he was dying,” she said.

Walker enjoyed spending money on others, so he had saved several months for the herringbone chain, his girlfriend said after his death.

“He’d do something like get his mother flowers or buy something for his brother first,” said Franchesca Thomas, then 21, who met Walker in a speech communications class at Georgia Perimeter College. “Chris always thought of other people before himself.”
