A crash involving a Georgia truck driver on Interstate 95 Tuesday night in Florida killed 4 people, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reports say a semi-truck hauling cars and driven by a 60-year-old Charlie Doles of Georgia collided with a 2018 Ram pickup truck that had a trailer attached. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction through Titusville about 6 p.m. Tuesday night when the accident occurred.

The pickup was hauling a land excavator when one of its trailer axles separated and rolled underneath the Georgia man's semi, causing Doles to swerve and hit the pickup.

Both vehicles ran off the road, troopers said. The pickup overturned, carrying four men from Fort Pierce, Florida, who were all family members, reports said.

Juan Magana, 30, the driver of the pickup, and his three passengers: Jose Magana, 38; Jose Magana Guil, 58; and Jaime Magana, 50, all of Fort Pierce, died in the crash, FHP said.

Three of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, and a fourth died at a local hospital. Two of the men had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash, and only the driver had been wearing a seat belt, an FHP report said.

The semi hauler jackknifed but its driver was not injured. No more information was available about the Georgia driver or whether any charges would be filed.  Police said alcohol was not a factor, but the crash remains under investigation.

The crash closed all southbound lanes of I-95 in Brevard County, about 50 miles east of Orlando, overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
