A Fulton County police officer hurt early Monday in a wreck with a suspected drunk driver is expected to recover from his injuries.

The crash happened on Old National Highway at Pleasant Hill Road, police said.

The rookie officer, Frederick Lee, had made a traffic stop and was in his patrol car writing a ticket when the cruiser was hit by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver, Channel 2 Action News reported. A training officer who was outside the cruiser was not injured.

The other driver kept going, but stopped when the vehicle broke down.

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition was not immediately available, but Channel 2 reported Monday afternoon that he is expected to be OK.

The allegedly drunk driver, Jonathan Isaac Reid, was booked into the Fulton County Jail early Monday, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, following too closely and hit-and-run.
