Investigators believe foul play was involved in the death of a taxi driver found inside his car early Monday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said.

Shortly before 5 a.m., deputies were called to the area of Barrett Road and Dorsey Peek Road, near Gainesville, on a report of a suspicious vehicle, the sheriff’s office said Monday afternoon. Deputies arrived to find a white Taxi El Palmar vehicle that had left the roadway, traveled through a wooded area and stopped behind a home, according to police.

The driver of the taxi, whose name was not released, was found dead inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

"Evidence located at the scene indicates that foul play is suspected," the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page.

The body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for further examination.
