A Fort Bragg soldier is facing multiple sex charges after deputies found him with a 12-year-old child from Alleghany County, WRAL reported.
Pfc. Damien Isaiah Campbell, 20, of Georgia is charged with three counts of statutory rape, five counts of statutory sex offense with a child and five counts of indecent liberties with a child, court records show.
Campbell was arrested after Cumberland County deputies were called to the 7100 block of Maxwell Road on Thursday to assist the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office in locating the girl, a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
When deputies arrived, they found the missing child and Campbell.
Campbell was an active-duty soldier assigned to the 1st Special Forces Command as a visual information equipment operator-maintainer and had been assigned to Fort Bragg since 2019, Army Capt. John Strickland said.
He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center in lieu of $550,000 bail, according to the news release.
