Forest Park flower shop owner beaten, $10K reward offered

Forest Park police Friday announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible for robbing a flower shop and severely beating the 73-year-old shop owner.

A customer of Red and Gold Florist, 4827 College St., called police Saturday after finding the shop’s owner severely beaten in the head and face, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

The owner told police that shortly after she opened for the day, a slender black male in his early 20s came in the store, brandished a knife and demanded money.

She said she gave the man about $40, which was all the cash she had in the drawer, but he demanded more. When she told him she had no more money, he struck her in the face, then fled the store.

“This incident is the number [one] priority for this department,” police said Friday in an emailed statement. “… People throughout the Forest Park and Clayton County community are rallying around the victim in this case.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
