Light snow that fell across parts of northeast Georgia Tuesday morning has ended, a Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman said just before noon.
GDOT sent maintenance crews to plow and spread materials at the higher elevations of at least three state highways, but those operations had ended by late morning, GDOT spokeswoman Teri Pope said.
A winter weather advisory posted overnight for the far northern suburbs northward expired at 9 a.m., when the National Weather Service determined that no further accumulation was expected.
Pope said snow fell at the higher elevations of Lumpkin, Towns, Union and White counties at 8:45.
Pope said crews plowed snow and spread salt materials to provide additional traction on U.S. 19 over Blood Mountain in Union and Lumpkin counties, on Ga. 180 near Suches and on U.S. 129 near the North Carolina state line.
