The city of Fairburn on Wednesday lifted a boil water advisory after testing its water and deeming it safe to drink.

The advisory was issued Friday afternoon. Sample testing discovered E. coli in the water system, which is pumped from the city of Atlanta’s water supply.

Another round of tests was conducted Wednesday by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division after tests Monday could not clear the water for human consumption, according to John Martin, the director of Fairburn’s utilities department.

Now that the advisory is no longer in effect, there is no need for residents to boil their water prior to using it for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food.

The Boil Water Advisory for the City of Fairburn has been lifted. All water tests from the EPD came back negative. The water is safe for human consumption.
