Cobb County police on Monday identified the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning.
Atlanta resident Jonathan S. Baxley, 29, was driving a white 2007 Ford F-150 truck southbound at slow speed on Barrett Lakes Boulevard near Chastain Road when his vehicle left the roadway and headed into a wood line on the western side of Barrett Lakes Boulevard, police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said.
Baxley, who was found unconscious inside the truck, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say they are not sure yet why the truck left the roadway.
Sunday’s fatal crash came just hours before another deadly crash elsewhere in the county, this one involving two vehicles.
In that crash, William G. Howe, 25, of Marietta was killed after his Suzuki motorcycle collided with a car around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Dana Pierce said in an emailed statement.
Howe was traveling eastbound on Robinson Road toward Lecroy Drive at the same time the driver of an Infiniti I35 was turning left onto Robinson Road. The Infiniti was turning out of the parking lot when it was struck on the left side by the motorcycle.
Howe was taken to Kennestone, where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information about either crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
