Fairington Elementary School students must continue to report to Miller Grove High School after a weekend fire caused extensive water, smoke and soot damage.

“The work is ongoing,” DeKalb County School District spokesman Quinn Hudson said Tuesday afternoon. “(There is) no date yet for returning to the school.”

Last Saturday, DeKalb Fire and Rescue crews found smoke and flames coming from a classroom at the rear of the school.

Fire Capt. Eric Jackson told Channel 2 Action News that the blaze was being investigated as an intentionally set fire.

There were no injuries.

Workers have been making repairs since the fire.

Even though classes are being held in a different location, students should follow their normal routines.
