Dozens were displaced from their apartments after a fire tore through a DeKalb County complex Wednesday morning.

The fire affected 12 units at the Sonoma Ridge apartments off I-85 and Pleasantdale Road, according to the Red Cross, which sent volunteers to help the displaced residents. Channel 2 Action News reported that the fire, which broke out just before 5:30 a.m., badly damaged six of the units.

While no one was injured, the Red Cross said 33 people were displaced, and 22 others received “supplemental assistance” from volunteers.

Channel 2 reported a Christmas tree sparked the blaze, but authorities have not confirmed that. They said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
