Authorities have reopened a busy road in Decatur four hours after a tree fell Wednesday morning and crushed two vehicles.

The tree fell across Clairemont Avenue at Maediris Drive about 7 a.m., knocking out power to 85 homes near the Decatur Family YMCA. An SUV and a transport van traveling north on Clairemont were hit by the tree, and the driver of the van was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

****UPDATE**** The roadway is now open. Clairemont Avenue at Maediris Drive is currently shutdown in both directions due to a tree and wires down.

Clairemont Avenue was closed while crews worked to clear the tree and repair downed wires. The road was reopened about 11:15 a.m., and power was restored before noon.

Crews cleared debris and restored power after a tree fell on two vehicles and took out power lines Wednesday morning on Clairemont Avenue.
