A Rockdale County mother charged with murder after her 1-year-old died was taken into custody late Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

Gloria Wright, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree child cruelty, the sheriff’s office said. But Wright eluded arrest for several days, and the sheriff’s asked for help in locating her.

Wright was arrested in Rochester, New York, with help from the U.S. Marshals, the sheriff’s office said.

“We sincerely appreciate the public’s ongoing support and assistance throughout this investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
