Amid the busy Christmas shopping season, Atlanta police are investigating an apparent smash-and-grab at a Lululemon store in the West Midtown area that resulted in the loss of more than $26,000 in merchandise.

Police confirmed they are “investigating a business burglary at the location” on Howell Mill Road near 14th Street that took place Dec. 10. A large glass door at the front of the shop was shattered and glass shards were piled up on the sidewalk as police combed the area for evidence.

According to the incident report, thieves broke into the shop around 3 a.m. and a security guard discovered the burglary about 3½ hours later. Responding officers checked inside the store to make sure it was safe and found what appeared to be blood droplets in the area of the shattered door.

Crime scene investigators carefully swabbed surfaces for any evidence potentially left behind by the suspects.

The shop, known for its yoga wear, leggings and athletic clothing, is situated within the Westside Provisions District, an upscale shopping area with a mix of clothing, home goods and dining establishments. After conducting an inventory to determine what had been stolen, the store’s manager told police that more than 200 items were missing with a value near $27,000, the incident report said.
