A fight between two people led to a deadly stabbing Thursday night in a gated Newton County neighborhood, according to a release from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
Quran Ali Knighton, 16, and Markice Samuel Harris, 18, were in an ongoing argument outside the Wesleyan Subdivision on over damaged property that escalated to a fight.
Matthew Knight told Channel 2 Action News he was driving out of his subdivision on Boogers Hill Road when he saw two people fighting.
“They were rolling around [both of them] on the ground,” Knight said. “And when I jumped out of the car, they stood up, and they quit fighting.”
Not long after, deputies got a call that the fight had led to the deadly stabbing.
Knighton stabbed Harris multiple times, authorities said. He is charged with murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
