Police rescued a woman being held at knifepoint and arrested the suspect accused of holding her in Lithonia, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday.
Peter Thompson, 42, surrendered and was charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault, DeKalb police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said.
The incident was described as a domestic dispute between the woman and Thompson, who is believed to be her boyfriend, according to Channel 2.
DeKalb County police rescued the woman from a second floor window of a townhouse on Willowick Drive after an hours-long standoff ended.
Fore said there was also a second male in another room of the home at the time of the incident. He wasn't harmed.
DeKalb SWAT crews arrived on the scene Wednesday morning, and police blocked off road access at Chupp Way and Fairington Road, Fore said.
As a result, Fairington Elementary School, about two miles from the standoff, issued a lockdown, Fore said. It has since been lifted.
