Smyrna police are searching for a man in connection with a robbery and assault at a city park last week.

A man jumped out of the bushes at Jonquil Park on July 14 and demanded $20 from a woman who was jogging by, Smyrna police said in a press release.

When she said she didn’t have any money, the man took her jewelry and then demanded sex, police said.

When she refused, the man allegedly struck her on the head, kicked her in the back and ran away.

The man is described as being between 6-feet and 6-feet-5-inches tall and weighing about 170 to 180 pounds. He is clean shaven with a large nose and a strong voice, the woman told police.

The man also has a tattoo on one of his hands, but the incident report didn’t specify which one.

Police said the woman believes she saw the man in the area a week prior to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Smyrna police at 770-434-6666 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
