WATCH: Georgia Chick-fil-A employee jumps out drive-thru window to save choking child
A Chick-fil-A employee in Hall County is being hailed as a hero after quickly switching between fast food to fast thinking Tuesday afternoon.
While working the drive-thru at the restaurant off Spout Springs Road, Logan Simmons overheard a panicking mother yell that her son’s seat belt was choking him, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Simmons sprang into action, jumping through the drive-thru window. The entire incident was captured on the restaurant’s surveillance cameras
After jumping through the window, Simmons ran to the car and pulled out a pocketknife to cut the child free, Channel 2 reported.
“I’m still kind of shocked right now myself that all this has happened,” he told the news station. “You could see he was turning red and losing pigmentation in his face.”
About an hour after saving her son, the mother called Simmons to thank him again, calling him a hero. That sentiment is shared by Simmons’ own mother.
“I’m amazed he didn’t panic. As his mother, I would have panicked,” Teri Simmons told Channel 2. “I’d be running around going, ‘Oh my gosh. What do we do?’”
After a Flowery Branch resident found out the teen didn't have his own car, a GoFundMe page was created to raise money to buy him one. As of Monday afternoon, the page had raised more than $1,400.
