Cobb police are still looking for three to six suspects in Thursday’s “takeover-style” robbery at Cumberland Mall, but the stolen vehicle they sped away in was recovered Friday morning off Martin Luther King Drive in Atlanta, a spokeswoman said.

“The vehicle is being brought back to Cobb County Police Department Headquarters for processing (fingerprinting, inventory, DNA samples, etc),” Cobb police Officer Alicia Chilton said in an emailed statement. “There were no suspects with the vehicle, and there are no further updates at this time.”

Just before noon Thursday, the suspects, all of them in masks and dark hoodies, robbed Diamond Solutions, a jewelry store inside the mall, Officer Alicia Chilton told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

They smashed a display case, quickly ran away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry and jumped into a white 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor with Alabama tag 9083AM4. The SUV was reported stolen out of Clayton County.

“We just know jewelry was taken,” Chilton said Thursday. “Still working on a complete inventory and price range.”
