Police have arrested an Uber driver and charged him with an alleged burglary and sexual assault of an Athens woman.

John M. Kamens, 49, of Statham, was jailed Wednesday afternoon, the Athens-Banner Herald reported. Athens-Clarke County police say he picked up a 28-year-old Athens woman on Dec. 14, taking her home.

Detectives say he returned late the next day, Dec. 15. Over the course of 90 minutes, say police, he assaulted her and stole items from her home. The woman called police as soon as Kamens left, investigators say.

Kamens is charged with aggravated sodomy with force and first-degree burglary.
