Three metro Atlanta residents have been indicted on 41 counts that relate to filing false tax returns, prosecutors said Friday. And another Atlantan has pleaded guilty in the case.

The defendants were indicted in March on charges that include conspiracy, mail fraud, and theft of government money, according to a media release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta. They registered fake businesses in Georgia, and then filed fraudulent tax returns in the names of those businesses, prosecutors said.

The bogus returns allegedly claimed false income amounts, deductions, and fuel excise credits.

Indicted in March were Lorri Jackson-Brown, 51, of Lawrenceville, Cherri Dallas, 45, of Atlanta, and Gabrielle Rhodes, 35, of Loganville, according to the release.

Wayne Pettway, 53, of Lawrenceville pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft of government money in 2014.
