Police are searching for a group of robbers accused of robbing a 14-year-old Sutton Middle School student at an Atlanta bus stop Thursday morning, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The robbery happened just after 8 a.m. Thursday at a busy intersection along DeFoors Ferry Road, according to a police report.

One of the suspects allegedly snatched the girl’s phone and shoved her down at the bus stop in northwest Atlanta and jumped back into the Jeep they rode in headed toward Bolton Road.

Holt Marbut, one of a few witnesses gathered nearby, told Channel 2 he heard the girl belt bloodcurdling screams for help.

“You can hear it all the way up the street and stuff,” Marbut said. “We just looked out here, and she was like crying; and it look like she threw something.”

Parent John Marbut said he and other parents see the girl standing at the bus stop every morning.

Neighbors in the Westover Plantation subdivision and down Fernleaf Court told Channel 2 they hope to make sure parents, and especially students who take the bus, are aware of the attack.

Drew Gregory, one of those neighbors, said he expects to see a lot of parents now waiting with their children. He said the incident was unfortunate.

“That’s one of the real shames about this is that you got a kid at the right place at the right time doing the right thing and they get attacked like that,” Gregory said.
