A month after more than 200,000 current and former patients of Athens Orthopedic Clinic learned their personal data had been compromised, the status of the investigation remains a mystery.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, the FBI and the clinic have not provided any new information about the ongoing response to the data breach.

News of the breach was made public last month.

The Dark Overlord, a hacker or group of hackers, claimed responsibility for the incident, the newspaper reported.

The clinic sent current and former patients a letter saying names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, telephone numbers, account numbers, diagnoses and medical histories may have been affected.

A check of current court records shows no legal action against the clinic, according to the Banner-Herald.
