A 16-year-old from South Georgia was arrested on murder charges Friday after allegedly strangling his 10-year-old sibling to death, authorities said.

The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on Barnard Road in Glennville on Wednesday after receiving a call about an unresponsive person, the GBI said.

The 10-year-old was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said. On Thursday, the victim’s body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab, where investigators determined the child was strangled to death.

Authorities have not released the name of either sibling or said what may have led to the incident.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office at 912-557-6777 or the GBI’s Statesboro office at 912-871-1121.

Glennville is located about 65 miles southwest of Savannah and 220 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.
