A South Georgia man allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and beat and strangled her, according to the Delaware News Journal.

Robert Hill, 37, of Ashburn, was charged with home invasion, strangulation, assault and terroristic threatening, the newspaper reported. Hill also faces theft charges.

According to the News Journal, Hill entered the woman’s Delaware apartment in Laurel, got into her bed as she was asleep and began punching her. Hill allegedly told the woman: “If I can’t have you, no one can.”

The woman was hit enough times to cause a contusion and swelling. Hill allegedly choked her and hit her on a lump she had on her shoulder. The woman told police the lump was a Lymphoma tumor.

When the woman tried to call police on her cellphone, Hill grabbed it and placed her in a choke hold, the newspaper reported.

Hill had allegedly assaulted the woman twice on Sept. 16, leaving her with cigarette burns in one of those incidents. Court documents show he also took her cellphone and a silver wedding band. Hill was not located after that incident and was still wanted on that arrest warrant.

He is in the Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown, Delaware, on a $48,000 bond.
