A man accused of stabbing and killing a brother and sister in a Cherokee County apartment complex has surrendered, police said.

Oscar Tierrablanca, 28, of Dallas, Ga., is the father of the dead woman’s 18-month-old child, Canton police spokesman Pacer Cordry said.

The victims were Antonia Ruiz, 27, and Omar Ruiz, 23, Cordry said Saturday.

About 1:30 a.m., police responded to an assault call at the Laurels at Greenwood Apartments in the 1200 block of Hickory Flat Highway, Cordry said.

On the third floor breezeway of building 3000, police found the victims. The man was dead. The woman was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee, where she was pronounced dead.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting Canton police in the investigation.
