Police are trying to track down the person who shot two men at a Duluth apartment complex Saturday.

Gwinnett County detectives are investigating the shooting as a homicide after one of the victims died at a hospital.

Someone called 911 and reported hearing gunshots and screaming at the Prescott Apartments about 11:15 p.m., Gwinnett police said. When officers arrived at the complex, which is located in the 1600 block of Centerview Drive, they found two men in the woodline behind the property.

Both had been shot but were alive, police said.

One of the injured men told detectives they were walking around the apartment community when they were “confronted by a ‘dark, shadowy figure’ and ultimately shot.”

One of the men had a gunshot wound in his shoulder, officers said. The other was shot in the chest. Both were taken to a hospital. The man who was shot in the chest died from his injuries early Sunday morning.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Gwinnett detectives at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
