Police are trying to figure out who fatally shot a man and dumped his body on the side of a busy road in Clayton County.

An officer found Jermaine Blassengale on Tara Boulevard near Mundy Mill’s Road while doing routine patrol about 1:49 a.m. Monday, police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

Blassengale, 39, of Philadelphia, was facedown on the side of the road.

“As the officer checked Blassengale’s condition,” Marbury said, “it was determined that he was unresponsive and had been shot at least once.”

Detectives later determined he had been dumped there.

“At this time there are no known suspects and the investigation into the details surrounding the murder of Jermaine Blassengale is ongoing,” Marbury said.

Anyone with information about the murder investigation is asked to call Clayton police Detective Orona at 770-472-8109 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
