A man recently robbed a couple of landscapers working in Sandy Springs, police said.

Juan Lagunes and his brother told Channel 2 Action News they were working on Carpenter Drive, near Roswell Road, when a car drove up.

“I think they were checking me out,” Lagunes said. “They wouldn’t stop looking at me.”

He told the news station he couldn’t see the men inside the car well, but one of them got out and showed off a gun on his waist, “as if hinting at what they would do.”

Lagunes said he thought to himself, “‘I won’t get out of the truck.’ I didn’t know what to do, and I told myself, ‘They will steal what little stuff we have.’”

Sandy Springs police confirmed the recent theft was just one of several reported in the past few months.

Detective Sal Ortega said officers are increasing patrols in areas where the crews are working because landscapers have reported returning to trucks after work to discover they’ve been robbed.
