Rapper Rick Ross, who was booked into the Fayette County jail Wednesday afternoon on a misdemeanor marijuana charge, is a free man.
Ross, whose birth name is William Leonard Roberts II, posted bond and was released from jail about 11:18 p.m. Wednesday, Fayette sheriff’s spokesman Allen Stevens told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution early Thursday.
Ross, 39, was arrested Wednesday after a deputy stopped his Bentley on Ga. 279 for an alleged window tint violation, Stevens said.
The officer smelled marijuana before finding five joints inside the car, he said.
Wednesday’s run-in with Fayette deputies was at least Ross’s fourth marijuana-related arrest. He was arrested on pot charges in Miami in 2008, in Louisiana in 2011 and in North Carolina in 2013.
The founder of Maybach Music Group, Ross is perhaps best known for his 2006 single "Hustlin'." He was raised near Miami but purchased last year the Fayetteville mega-mansion that once belonged to boxing legend Evander Holyfield.
