Dispute between performers led to shooting at party, police say

Three people were injured when gunfire erupted at a party in southwest Atlanta Saturday night, police said.

Officers went to 900 Murphy Ave. about 10:30 p.m. after receiving a call about the shooting.

When they arrived, two teenagers were inside the building, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said Sunday in a statement.

An 18-year-old woman had a gunshot wound to the foot and a 17-year-old girl reported a bullet grazed her foot, Bender said. A third victim, a 26-year-old woman, was found a 764 Lillian Ave. She ran there to escape the gunfire after being shot in the hip, according to police. All three victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The incident started as a dispute between two artists who were performing onstage during the party, Bender said.

Witnesses told officials that two people arrived at the location in a white car. They got out of the vehicle and shot at the building before taking off, according to authorities.

According to Channel 2 Action News, dozens of shots were fired.

An investigation is ongoing.
