Police search for man accused of shooting, killing grandfather in DeKalb
Police are searching for a man accused of shooting and killing a grandfather in DeKalb County.
Timothy Newhouse, a 54-year-old grandfather of eight, was shot outside a DeKalb County convenience store near Memorial Drive and Stone Mountain Freeway on Sunday night, Channel 2 Action News reported. DeKalb police said he and the suspect got into an argument before the gunfire.
“The way he died — it’s terrible. Devastating,” Paris Walker, one of his four daughters, told Channel 2.

Police said Newhouse was shot in the chest as he was leaving the building, and the suspect was caught on surveillance video running away. He died at the scene.
A woman nearby was also hit in the foot during this incident by a stray bullet, Channel 2 reported. Jasmine Rinehart, one Newhouse’s daughters, said she hopes the man responsible is found soon before he can hurt anyone else.

“It won’t make the sadness go away, but at least we can know that justice was served and that person was punished for killing a great man,” she told the news station.
His daughters said Newhouse, an avid musician, moved to Georgia from Kansas to try to break into the Atlanta music scene.
“He was our dad. You only get one,” Walker said, trying not to cry.
Police said the gunman may have had an accomplice. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact DeKalb police at 678-406-7929.
