Gwinnett County police have identified the two 18-year-olds accusing in a shooting at Snellville-area QuikTrip. But only one of the alleged gunmen has been captured, police said Friday.

One person was injured when shots were fired Sept. 20 at the Centerville Highway gas station, police previously said. Investigators later released surveillance images of the two gunmen.

“After coverage of this incident by the media, several credible leads came in identifying the suspects in this case,” Gwinnett police said in an emailed statement.

Abdu Kimo was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Gwinnett County jail, where he was being held without bond Friday, booking records showed. Haben Araya remained at large, police said. Both have been charged with three counts of aggravated assault.

After the shooting, witnesses told police a driver of a white Dodge Journey backed into a parking space and approached a silver passenger car. After approaching the driver’s side of the vehicle, one suspect then walked to the passenger side and began to have a conversation with the person in the front passenger seat, police said.

Meanwhile, a passenger of the white Dodge got out of the car holding a handgun in his waistband and ran along the sidewalk away from the driver, according to police. Surveillance cameras showed the driver of the silver car pull forward at an accelerated speed, and the man at the passenger-side window pull out a handgun from his pocket and begin shooting.

The passenger from the Dodge, who initially walked away from the car, ran back over and also began firing shots at the silver car, according to police. The two suspects then chased after the silver car as it left the parking lot before getting back into the Dodge and leaving, heading north on Centerville Highway, police said.

A person pumping gas was shot in the foot and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. The white Dodge was later recovered and returned to a rental company in Savannah.

Anyone with information on Araya’s wherabouts is asked to contact police.
