Alpharetta authorities have identified the man who was bitten by a police dog while hiding in the woods by North Point Mall after he allegedly hit a teen in the head and stole her iPhone Saturday night.
Christopher Deven Daye, 18, of Riverdale is charged with robbery by intimidation or force and obstruction.
The 17-year-old girl was walking in a crosswalk on North Point Parkway and North Point Court when someone hit her and stole her phone, according to Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon.
She ran into a Ruby Tuesday to call 911 while the suspect ran away.
A K9 officer arrived quickly enough to see Daye escaping and ordered him to stop, but he ran into the woods, Gordon said.
Officers found Daye in the woods and told him to show his hands and surrender. When he refused, officers sent a dog in. The man was bitten once before he was put into custody and taken to a hospital.
Daye was reported missing from Ohio last September. Police said they will contact the agency that reported Daye missing.
