A big white truck.
That’s what Sandy Springs police think may have struck Gayla Joyce Walker as she walked onto Interstate 285 westbound the morning of Jan. 22.
But it’s not much to go on, and authorities Friday acknowledged that, absent any other tips, they’re stumped trying to find the person responsible for the mysterious death of the 53-year-old Dunwoody woman.
Noting that “… investigators have exhausted all leads in the case,” police announced that the reward for information resulting in an arrest and indictment has been boosted to $5,000.
Dunwoody police officers had met with Walker for about 10 minutes around 5 a.m. at a service station on Ashford Dunwoody Road near I-285 after responding to a call about woman behaving erratically.
She was ultimately struck by multiple cars, and the highway was closed for hours.
Anyone with information in this case should call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS or 404-577-8477, go online to www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or text CSA with tip info to CRIMES (274637). Tipsters can remain anonymous.
