A pedestrian was struck by an allegedly drunk driver and killed late Thursday night while walking along a south Cobb County roadway.
Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the woman, whose name is being withheld until relatives can be notified, was walking in the right southbound lane of Powder Springs Road near Pine Grove Road when she was hit from behind by a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Joshua Lee Shank.
The woman died at the scene, Pierce said.
Shank, 31, of Powder Springs, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, and was being held Friday in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, Pierce said.
