A Tucker man who was hit by a minivan while crossing a busy Gwinnett County road has died of his injuries nearly a year after the incident.

Genyuan Taou, 67 at the time, was critically injured Nov. 15, 2018, while crossing Lawrenceville Highway, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said Thursday in a news release.

According to investigators, Taou was crossing the street near Mimosa Drive about 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by a blue Toyota Sienna that was turning left.

Taou, who was not in the crosswalk at the time of the crash, suffered injuries to his head and hands, according to a Gwinnett police incident report. The driver of the van that hit him was not charged.

On Wednesday, two days shy of the 1-year anniversary of his wreck, Taou died in hospice from injuries he sustained in the collision, police said.
