Communication was received Friday from a missing Hall County girl who is the subject of a nationwide alert, Channel 2 Action News reported. However, the girl’s mother believes her daughter was coached.
Brooklyn Smith, 12, disappeared early Wednesday from her home and is believed to be with her father, Steven Spires, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
The child may be in “extreme danger,” according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which joined in the Amber Alert.
The girl’s mother, Selena Smith, said she received a call from her daughter, who claimed she was not hurt, not kidnapped, and not with her father, Channel 2 reported. But the mother thinks the girl was lying.
The parents have been involved in a custody battle, Channel 2 reported.
The missing girl is 5-foot-2, with brown hair and brown eyes, authorities said. The father is 5-foot-6, about 142 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, according to the alert.
They are believed to be traveling in a dark Ford Taurus, with Georgia license CAY7195.
Anyone with information about the situation can call 911 or the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at 770-536-8812.
