After more than a year on the run, an Upson County fugitive accused of carjacking a man and using the vehicle to injure several officers was arrested Thursday.
Thomaston police said Terrell King was taken into custody about 12:20 p.m. after he was found hiding in a shed behind the home of two people accused of harboring him.
He was arrested by Zebulon officers along with members of the U.S. Marshals Service, police said in a news release.
King already faced several felony charges, including the aggravated assault of a Pike County officer, when police spotted him driving a Gold Cadillac Escalade in Thomaston in February. He reportedly refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that left several officers injured.
“Based on the nature of his warrants, his violent history and manner in which he was driving to elude officers, one of our officers rammed his vehicle to end the pursuit,” Thomaston police said at the time.
Following the crash, King allegedly climbed out of the passenger side of his vehicle and carjacked another driver who pulled over during the chase.
Two detectives attempted to pull King from the stolen car, but he drove off, striking one officer and forcing another to dive out of the way, authorities said.
Three officers suffered minor injuries in that incident as King managed to escape, evading capture until Thursday.
He now faces 10 charges in Upson County, including aggravated assault, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, probation violation, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, abandonment of dangerous drugs, possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, misdemeanor marijuana possession and obstruction.
He remains held at the Upson County Jail on a $122,500 bond, online records show.
