Spalding County officials arrested two men Friday accused of following a teenage girl and trying to pull her out of her car.

Christopher Allen Butler, 28, of Griffin, and Isaac Jordan Brown, 28, of Barnesville, were charged with aggravated assault and stalking. Police said the men pulled a gun on the girl and tried to pull her out of her car twice.

Butler and Brown allegedly followed the girl along Hamil Road to a red light at the intersection of West McIntosh Road and the North Expressway on Sept. 9, Spalding Sheriff Wendell Beam said in a news release. At the intersection, Butler, who was driving, got out of the truck, walked to the girl’s car and tried to open the door, Beam said.

Once the light turned green, she drove to another red light near the entrance of Griffin Crossroads Shopping Center, he said. The men followed her and this time Butler got out of the car and pulled out a gun.

The girl was able to escape again, but Butler and Brown followed her until she pulled into a crowded church parking lot, Beam said. The men left the church and drove westbound on West McIntosh Road.

They remain in jail and are scheduled for a court appearance Saturday.
