A North Georgia man who slammed into a Floyd County police cruiser last year while fleeing authorities during a child sex sting arrest will serve 15 years behind bars, according to multiple media reports.

Darren Allan Vincent, 49, pleaded guilty Monday to criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation and eight counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

Vincent, who placed a Craigslist advertisement seeking a sexual encounter, attempted to elude police after arriving to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex, the newspaper reported.

"When three officers in the home came out, he tried to run over them," Floyd County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Salmon said.

Authorities said Vincent reached speeds of 130 mph as he fled police through northwest Georgia. He was stopped by Floyd County police on Ga. 53 as he approached the Gordon County line.
